Dressage Addict the Online Dressage Community
Welcome to Dressage Addict – The Online Dressage Revolution. An online platform where riders can compete within a supportive, inclusive international community without the pressure and “stressage” of leaving home. Dressage Addict is the cheerleader in your corner offering encouragement, cheering you on every step of the way. Helping riders to build self belief & confidence to fulfill their personal aspirations on their Dressage journey.
Dressage Addict was founded by Joely Bostock. Joely has ridden since being a child , but took an extended gap year when her first daughter was born. Finally returning after 18 years to riding and then horse ownership was the rebirth of that childhood passion. Joely had never had the opportunity to compete as a child . However on returning to Riding and with some lessons under her belt she discovered an absolute love of dressage – The focus, the complete feeling of being in the moment and in flow with the horse. The balance and well-being that came from the valuable time spent from just being around horses and being outdoors was like a light bulb switching on. Joely rediscovered the key to her well-being.
With Lockdown as we know, came no going out and about and having tried a few online dressage platforms Joely felt she could offer something extra and Dressage Addict was born with the first months classes launching in June 2021.
Joely has a great belief in each rider/ handler following their own path, being able to nurture the partnership with their horse, enjoy the time and progress at a pace that is right for them. A key part to this has been fostering a community of riders who are friendly, supportive and embrace the ethos of Bekind. Dressage Addict’s philosophy is very much integral to their Good Manners Code which their members embrace.
Dressage Addict is a place where friends are made, confidence is nurtured, training and competing are supported to allow the rider to grow at their pace with a team who have a positive can do attitude and are always happy to go that extra mile to help.
Competing from home gives riders precious time back, they are still doing what they love but without losing a day to do so. Life is busy many of us are juggling home, horses, work and family by competing with Dressage Addict it takes the lid off the pressure cooker to make competing fun.
Riders give themselves permission to take their time to build confidence and focus on what matters to them. It removes the stress and pressure. Allowing riders to remember what made them fall in love with horses and riding in the first place. With the support of the community and the great team of Joely, Amy and the panel of brilliant British Dressage Judges, headed up by the amazing Jane Peberdy; they really do hold your hand and guide you along your chosen path.
Dressage Addict started out with 4 Promises to their riders
A Level Playing Field – Our Walk leagues provide an avenue for those who want to start with the most important pace of all Walk. It gives options for young horse just starting out, horses who are rehabbing, with an in-hand section too. For British Dressage riders – we have the Affiliated league . For riders with both visible and hidden disabilities there is the Inclusive league which Joely immensely proud of as inclusivity is an integral part of their philosophy and ethos. A new Para League is also on the horizon.
Results Day Guarantee – All results published to Rider accounts simultaneously, not just rider score and placing but their scoresheet and the all important invaluable listed British Dressage judge’s feedback. There is no waiting for weeks for that scoresheet to arrive. Riders love this as they can focus on the Judge’s comments and make the most of their valuable riding time, ready for their next entry.
Rewarding Riders – the smart points system ensures riders are rewarded for their efforts with The Rider Rewards, Bronze, Silver, Silver plus, Gold Plus & Platinum awards. Each time a rider achieves an award they are rewarded with a free entry and a extra frillie as a moment of their achievement.
Fostering a community of positivity and inclusivity – this is integral to Dressage Addict philosophy – nurturing riders to build confidence , giving riders from all backgrounds whether able bodied or hidden or visible disability and whatever level – every rider will be treated with mutual respect and all riders embrace the good manners code both towards each others and in their approach to their horses.
Dressage Addict are also renowned for the quality of their rosettes and the amazing equestrian prizes they provide for all Class winners every month and with stunning rosettes to 8th place.
What the Riders Say ….
Kate Gillet of Hairy Pony Diary:
I can’t recommend dressage addict enough. Competing online with the support of the Dressage Addict community has helped me hugely. It’s developed my skills and given focus to my training sessions thanks to the constructive feedback from the judges. Like so many people, I struggle with low self esteem, and confidence issues and get anxious about competing and Dressage Addict has given me the confidence to put myself out there in a safe and secure space with like minded people. It enables me to compete without the need of the right gear, transport and on a shoe string budget with my hairy (and incredibly cute) coblet. There’s classes for everyone, no matter what your experience level including in hand classes. The online support group is an amazing source of help and support. I absolutely love competing monthly and the rosettes are fab!!
A FEW QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER-
Do you freak when you see the white boards?
Can you ride a lovely dressage test whilst at home but by the time you get to the venue you are tense, tired and stressed?
Do you want to have the benefit of competing both from home and out and about, and take advantage of the constructive British Dressage listed judge’s feedback to help you prepare for that important event and enjoy the support, along the way?
Do you feel that it’s a huge effort, bathing, grooming, plaiting, loading, traveling, for what is possibly a 5-minute dressage test?
Does your horse hate to load or travel?
Do you have children that compete as well or would like to, but the mammoth task of doing all of the above twice or three times over is overwhelming?
Have you lost your confidence, or has your horse been injured and you would like to dip your toe back in the water from the comfort of home?
Then join the Online Dressage Revolution and D-stressage with Dressage Addict by taking part in the online dressage competitions. You will immediately feel part of a friendly, supportive and inclusive community, where we think you’ll find one dressage test leads to another.
