The summer of 2018 has been very busy and very hot so far. I have finally finished my year 10 GCSE exams and because of this I haven’t been able to go to many competitions due to revising. However, I have six weeks off school shortly to spend plenty of time with the ponies especially Rico as he may be for sale at the end of the year as it is my last year on ponies.

We have also been busy on the farm with the sheep. Rico and Finley have been kept fit by gathering the sheep of the mountain which can be very challenging but we really enjoy it! We have now nearly finished shearing the sheep so are already back out competing.

I took both ponies to the David Broome Event Centre July Summer Show, both ponies jumped amazing considering the very hot weather! We have also not been able to jump at home as the ground is very hard-so we were a little out of practice. I also took my sisters’ pony to a bs competition and we won the British Novice. Rico really enjoyed the second part of the Welsh Team Training where we jumped a 1.10 metre course.

School summer holidays are just about to start and we have many competitions coming up which include the Welsh Home Pony. Rico and I are looking forward to this competition as we are going to try our first Foxhunter.

Towards the end of August, I’m taking both ponies to the championships of Great Britain at Broomes, I always love this competition that is run over three days. We have lots of day shows coming up and hopefully a few more affiliated competitions before the summer is over.

Keeping my fingers crossed for some rain over the next few days as it has been a very hot and dry few weeks. Think even the ponies are looking forward to a bit of rain on their backs.

Diavion and Rico xx
