So ALOT has happened! Let’s start with the riding!

Risks and I had two outings booked in April, Allen’s hill and Wellington.

Sadly the prep running up to these events didn’t go smoothly I managed somehow to fall out of the lorry and tear my MCL ligament in my knee. But in true para fashion and with thanks to Tom at TP fitness and therapy’s they strapped me up and I was good to go!

In light of falling out the lorry on the Monday, casualty on the Tuesday and mending the leg on the Thursday for the sake of my body, we decided to pull out of Wellington and just do Allen’s hill.

Risks was in fine voice at Allen’s Hill and slightly sharper than normal but that being said we made it round and gained a few qualifying points at Gold and we’ve now qualified at silver.

During this month we also receive the fantastic news that Risks and I had been selected to compete at the home international at vale view! I was delighted! So a very long treck up the motorway to Melton Mowbray and not helped by the human leaving the ponies passport in a safe place on the kitchen table . I was not in the good books when I realised an hour into the journey!

Despite the slight detour on the way, Risks arrived in good shape and flew through the trot up! We had an up and down time with Regards to scores despite good warm ups we seemed to crumble slightly in the arena and this affected our marks however we rode more positively on the second day and this was rewarded.

We have a few new techniques to try at home to help with our medium canter to collected canter down the centre line we’re currently a bit giraffe like and breaking is a little bit of an issue! Nobody wants a big ginger sat on their lap lol! Despite this, our pesky pirouettes have massively improved!

One of the biggest highlights of my weekend is by far, the time I got to spend off of a horse with my southwest team mates. The SW para family is totally supportive and the banter is top! No matter if things don’t go to plan they are there to scoop you up and help with a good laugh.

I am still yet to book a lesson in with Sara our diary’s keep sadly clashing! However, in more positive news I will now be able to train with Sara more often! With massive thanks to solicitors firm Irwin Mitchell I have been award a grant to allow me to train and compete more often! I’m super excited to be able to book in my next 6 months worth of lessons! #DontQuitDoIt

Tough Mudder!

Now as some of you may know I decided to embark on probably my toughest challenge yet! A tough mudder in aid of Riding for the Disabled RDA. 10 miles and 24 obstacles!

Armed with my small army of guides, Colin my guide runner, from Bristol VI running club and Dave, a tough mudder legionnaire (basically addicted to tough mudders and has done loads!) and equally important future husband to my bestie, embarked on this epic challenge. With the mindset that anything was possible and if in doubt we’d just launch me over and one of them could hopefully catch me!

Well I did it! 10 miles 24 obstacles, an arctic anima, a run up Everest, crawling through mud, electrocution and a dip in what can only be described as some form of muddy sheep dip and I crossed the finish line!

Well I loved it! And I wish to do it again!! I have also raised a stonking £400! Towards the RDA! I am super super chuffed.

Now I like a challenge and spurred on my by this I now need a new challenge for another charity, so I’ve done an absail, I’ve done a tough mudder, what next?! Marathon? Triathlon? London- Paris cycle ride?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Next blog more horsey shows, training and I may book myself for another challenge!
