Horse rescue charity, HorseWorld have had to cancel their charity Open Day on Saturday 14th April due to the relentless rain and wet ground conditions. The Bristol-based charity were hoping to hold the first of four Open Days this year where visitors could enter for free and meet the rescued horses.
“All of our car parking is on grass and the fields are water-logged at the moment with no sign of them drying out.” said Fundraising Manager, Stephen Poole. “Although the day itself is forecast to be good the ground leading to the parking fields; those parking fields themselves and the main entrance to the yard is between ankle and knee-deep in mud. They simply will not take the vehicles or allow pedestrian access.
“Our first Open Day of the year is our biggest fundraising event so we were really hoping for some good weather. We are sorry to anyone who was planning to come and hope that you will be able to attend our other Open Days this year on Saturday 23rd June, Saturday 11th August and Saturday 20th October.”
