My name is Cecilla, I am 19 years old and I live in Odense, Denmark. Abel is my first very own horse AND my first Icelandic man, so it’s very different to what I’m used to. I have Cerebral Palsy, have ADHD, scoliosis, Raynaud’s syndrome, a very low metabolism, extreme hypermobility syndrome, fibromyalgia and I’m under investigation for Ehlers Danlos syndrome, so a few issues to contend with! Life has been oppressed by being wheelchair-bounded and taking pain-relieving pills daily
I have been tested as a grade 3 para, which means that I have some physical handicaps that affect my riding – therefore I can get some special aids for dressage, which means I am allowed 2 whips, but only in dressage so far. We currently ride 4.2, T4 & T3, but hope for a qualification for the A classes this year. Besides that, we enjoy going to shows and lectures a lot, so be sure if you would like to visit us! I hope you will accompany our adventure! ;-)
I have been able to become more healthy and independent with Abel’s help, but I still need additional help in order to ride him, so my parents and I are in a catch 22. The more healthy and independent I become the less help and support I receive from supporting bodies, to keep doing the one thing that improves my conditions, riding Abel.

I’m delighted to say that Genius Equestrian has asked me to do a monthly blog update, to allow me to tell my story and voice my difficulties.
Watch this film about my journey,
A film by Caroline Jensen
Thanks to the Rosell family, without whom this film would not have been possible.
