In an exciting new development for 2019, British Showjumping’s Young Horse Championship Show will take place at Bolesworth Castle near Tattenhall, Chester at the home of the Bolesworth International Horse Show.

Taking place from August 13 to 18 in the stunning grounds of Bolesworth Castle the five day event will feature 4, 5, 6 & 7-year-old age classes, incorporating the Qualifiers for the FEI World Young horse Championships in Lanaken, held in September.

These will run alongside CSI**/CSIAm International classes.  The young horses will all get the chance to experience jumping in the amphitheatre-style Main Arena with the atmosphere of a true International competition.

Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping commented:  “With the Championship Show moving to Bolesworth it now has the opportunity to grow into the one that we always felt it could become. British Breeding is something that the entire team at Bolesworth feel extremely passionate about and this, accompanied with their superb facilities, will make for an ideal setting for our future world class horses to make their Championship debut.”

The competition will see some of the very best young horses from all over Britain, travelling to Cheshire to compete.  The British Breeding Industry will be another focus for the event, with stakeholders being invited both to exhibit and to network, with the show providing a platform for breeders, producers and stallion owners to do business.

Another highlight of the event will be a new Elite foal auction featuring British bred youngsters on the evening of Saturday, August 17.

Leading showjumper, and well-known breeder, thanks to the huge success of The Billy Stud, William Funnell said: “It is brilliant that this prestigious event has moved to Bolesworth. “The facilities are fantastic with top class all weather arenas and the infrastructure required to run such an event.”

The five day event will be a showcase for the best foals and young horses in the UK.  Owners and agents from both the UK and the rest of the World, will be invited to the show, where facilities for trialling and vetting horses will be available on site before during and after the show.

Show Promoter Nina Barbour said: ‘”We are passionate about developing the sport of showjumping in the UK.  For me it is very important to keep the Brits in Britain and to reverse the trend that horses need to be both sourced and produced abroad.  “The mission for this show is to prove that we can do it right, and to support the breeding and production of future team horses capable of taking British riders to the very top.”

The show will officially launch in the New Year at Bolesworth with a new website detailing schedules, show layout, format of the Auction, and other exciting additions and developments.
