Staff and volunteers at Bristol-based horse rescue charity, HorseWorld were thrilled to meet 9-year-old Venice Winstone who visited to present £125 that she’d raised by declining birthday presents in favour of charity donations. Venice and her Mum, Romana met some of the rescued horses and the Grooms who look after them. Romana said “We are very proud of Venice and her selfless giving nature.”
The kind-hearted youngster decided to raise funds for two charities close to her heart by asking family and friends to donate to them instead of buying her any birthday presents for her ninth birthday. Venice chose Cancer Research UK because her Dad, Ian has chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia that is in remission; and HorseWorld because of her life-long love of horses.
HorseWorld’s Fundraising Manager, Stephen Poole said “We are very grateful to Venice for such a kind and thoughtful act. The money she raised will go directly to helping care for and rehabilitate rescued horses, ponies and donkeys, ensuring they have a bright and secure future. Thank you to Venice and all those who donated.”
